I’m suddenly feeling very nostalgic…
Just thought that this would be a fun throwback. So much has changed since this piece when I was 17—design-wise, stylistically, aesthetically, life. I can’t imagine sitting down and doing a realistic, straight up self-portrait now. It’s as if I’ve become bored and restless with realism. If you asked me to do a self-portrait right now? It would probably turn out to be one part cubist and two parts crazy.
Self-Portrait at 17 (2009). Graphite on Paper. 18” x 24”.

Quick and dirty photoshoot for my good friend, Nathan Chan!

He’s an amazing cellist, currently studying in the Columbia-Julliard program! If you’re interested, he’ll be playing this Saturday at 8pm in Alice Tully Hall, performing Richard Strauss’ Don Quixote! Check out the event here.

Nathan had originally just asked me to help him get some head shots. Between being asked to play on the fly by one of his YouTube fans and jamming with a random passerbyer with a drum (I think djembe), I squeezed in a couple other cool shots.

I realized I haven’t posted any pictures from my Haiti and Dominican Republic trip over winter break! I guess this is a teaser for the photos to come, then!

Columbia Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) Jacket design!

Really pleased with how these turned out! In comparison to Wushu Teams from other schools, we definitely have the most… flashy/obnoxious/striking jacket. Everyone else tends to keep their logos small and simple. But I’m always one for being out standing… go big or go home. Now everybody knows Columbia has a Wushu team!

We ordered from gtmsportswear.com. They were really friendly and attentive! We needed to rush the order in order to have them in time for a competition, and they were really helpful and didn’t charge us extra!

Photoshoot I did last summer for ALIST Magazine of Dan Kim, the founder of Red Mango (frozen yogurt and smoothies).

This shoot was my first ever, not only for the magazine, but also just in general as a working photographer! Dan was awesome and extremely chill—a perfect first subject! That particular day was the grand opening of a new store in New Jersey, and boy, did I eat a lot of frozen yogurt! :)

I’m obsessed with motion and how we can capture it. This piece captures the motion of an arm shooting a basketball. The ripple in the muscle, frozen for just a moment.Side note: Traditional work is so fun! Nowadays I mostly do digital/graphic design. I think I forget about it so often, even though these are my roots.
Just a little about my traditional work style/aesthetic/interests? I’m obsessed with lines, motion, perspective, lines, and lines. I am in love with the aesthetic of cubism and futurism. I aim for power, creating something striking—something that catches your eye and immediately commands your attention. Something out of the ordinary—fusing the boundary of the familiar (realistic) versus the abstract. I hope you guys like this kind of stuff—I’ll be uploading more of it!

Casual photoshoot for my friend, Jenny, for the launch of her awesome fashion blog, College Walk. It had been a while that I did a shoot of a friend of mine—and she was such a trooper! It was absolutely freezing and windy that day. Awesome bonus—she got a lot of compliments on that outfit from people walking by!
